Hey John,

Glad to see the links again.

I was not finding the gibralter lugs you used on your travel kit.
Any hints?

Also, is there a reason you have PM disabled?

thanks

hey John, My attention has wandered over here again. Do you think reinforced rims play into the size calculations? In other words, If my 2 shells are 1 inch apart, is the ring on the larger drum going to make it too snug when i collapse the column? It would seem like rings would make the edge stiffe...

Hey John,

Thanks so much for the detailed replies. You are the best!

If you don't mind....

How did the snare half work for you?

What do you think of a 13" snare half and a 15 or 16" bass half?
Would that look or sound weird to have the two parts with a big size difference?

Hey John, Now that i'm (almost ) over my disappointment, a couple of questions; Do you think that the gap between the drums enhanced or diminished the volume or bass. I wonder if there was a way to adjust the gap for Different height or tune the drums bass response. I wonder if an inch or two either...

Cool.... Photos? I've looking at plastic buckets and drums. I have a couple of 30 gallon drums with lids that might work. They are strong and light. Only problem, i cant see any way to decorate them. They will not take a wrap because they have several ribs and they are tapered. Maybe some kind of pa...

cannister thrones

Anybody here made their own cannister thrones? Could you just start with a floor tom? If so, how many plys? DW still makes one which looks ok and you can still get one from ludwig. I have too short an attention span to wait 8 weeks, however. I always thought they were cool. How come you dont see the...

rug for pedal?

Thinking of going without the pedal brackets to save a couple of minutes setup time. To those of you that use a metal base pedal that just sits on the floor; What kind of carpet works for you? Short/ long nap? I'm assuming it needs to be big enough to fit under the main drum legs as well? Does ithe ...

Just a thought on ready made versus build your own. i think he should just get something and start playing! He can always make his own later. There are so many things that get in the way of making music, family, work, creative blocks, etc. Unless he has the time, skill set, space, ambition, and visi...
