thanks, yeah, i was thinking about one of those 70's congas that had the straight tapered bodies and was usually 12 inches tapering down to 8 inches at the bottom. They are mostly 28 to 30 inches tall, so there would be some decent cubic volume, but te head is only 12 inches. These type of "con...

Actually, i noticed they stick out a lot from the drums.

I'm going to look for a mounting system with a slimmer profile.

I'm making a nesting set and i want them to be able to fit in hard cases, also.

source for yess hardware

I liked the yess hardware on my club jordans, and was looking to use the same
system for my homemade kits.

They seem super expensive to just order by themselves.

It almost is cheaper to buy a used drum with the hardware on it!

Or perhaps there is a similar system that is cheaper?

conga as bass drum?

Anybody ever flip a conga over and use it for a cocktail bass?

Either the kind with the standard drum type rims or the conga style clamps?

Cool.
Thanks for posting up photos.
I noticed that the price was $270 new.
Since these are really old and no one plays these kind of drums anymore,
how about if i give you five dollars for them?

Just kidding!

when you have the snare swiveled directly over the main drum, do you get much interaction between the two drums, or does the fact that they are not directly coupled, isolated them? Do you get a decent bass sound? it looks like it's a 16X16 maybe? The expresso kit has this setup and i always wondered...

Very cool.
What are the dimensions of the drums?
And does anybody make anything similar to the swivelmatic today?

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the ideas.
I think i'm just going to have to experiment and see what happens.
Worse case scenario- i'm out $100 and a few hours of my time.
And i will have learned something.
I'll post up the results.Might be a few weeks till i get around to it.

bump....
Anyone get some decent bass thump out of a 12 inch?
I can live with the sound i'm getting with my 15 inch but i'm a little sceptical
about getting anything resembling a traditional bass drum sound from a 12.
thoughts?

12 inch bass

Sorry if this has been covered before....

Anyone use a 12inch main drum?
Except Peter, of course.
Curious how much bass you could get.
