Hey, you all, When I play the sit down set ( I play with guitar & accordion) I feel like I always want to cut loose, ya know make the other guys turn around! The guitar player gets his, the accordion player gets his, and I'm back there doing the beguine or somethin. But strangley, when I'm on th...

shots of kit

.....and, dude, what a gorgeous kit! You should snap some longer shots and include some details about your kit - others would dig it I'm sure! Will post some shots of the kit in e few days. It's not really a kit! but I'll post some pics/ Hey multiperc, did you see in a couple of the shots of the cl...

clamp on style mufflers

Hey Multiperc, Hopefully you'll be able to see pics of Rogers style clamp on mufflers. The pics should show what they can do. You can swing them out or in towards hoop, and dial them on or off drum head surface. When I use on bottom head I like to dial them off a little more. I think one of the pics...

Matthew Some others here have talked about the virtues of a larger soft (lambswool) beater especially for the round sound it provides for swing and dance applications. My first drumset as a kit was a spectacular hand-me-down vintage (even then in 1970) 1930s RadioKing with calf heads. The drums hav...

Mufflers & beater heads

Multiperc, first, I'll answer the clamp on muffler question because it's an easy one. My mufflers are from Midas! No, not really, they are the ones that originally came with my Rogers Memriloc set, they clamp on the hoop, and then they have a small ( 1"-1/2?) dia. felt pad that can be adjusted ...

Re: My First Time Standing

When I first started playing the cocktail drum I thought people who stood were crazy. I just couldn't give up my hat tricks and my complex foot beats. But, wow. All I can say is wow. I tried playing standing up yesterday. Man, it's awesome! It's so...liberating. I mounted a closed hi-hat on my righ...

two ning

I have been playing dance style drums on a sit down set for quite a few years and recently decided to pull out the old WFL (16X24) out of mothballs to play in situations where the band doesn't have enough room. One thing I noticed on the bass drum sound is that a big, round, softer beater head ( min...

Lookin' for a cocktail

I am looking to purchase a cocktail (bass) drum with foot pedal and cymbal arm if the attacthments are correct. I would prefer a vintage set up; WFL, Gretch, Slingerland, etc. I want the correct pedal with the drum. I am not Familiar with the contemporary set ups......, so maybe someone can educate ...
