If you do apply anything that leaves a residue, like tape or moongels you can use a citrus based product called Goo-Gone to remove it. It is meant for label adhesive and won't damage your finish. Another thing you could try to mute the cymbal a little is a strip of cotton, felt or a piece of a towel...

What always keeps the beat, comes to every gig, and doesn't run off with your girlfriend?

A drum machine.

You can't do much to control the band leader's reaction. Maybe the best you can hope for is that the other members will stay on good terms especially if the leader is unreasonable. I'd just say that you are moving on. Want to do something different. It might help if you had some replacements to reco...

Welcome BigMike! You can make your own custom rods from 3/8" steel rod that you can get at HomeDepot or Lowes or a steel supplier. Just file a little notch where you want to bend it a shape it the way you want. You can polish it and clear coat it or paint it or have it powder coated if you want...

Re: Remote Hi Hat Conversion

If you're considering a remote hihat unit, I have a pearl eliminator RH2000 for sale at the moment. It's a great unit, I just found a DW for a great deal while I was waiting for the pearl to arrive. $150.
Do you still have the pedal?

Oh yeah. I'd never use it with my cocktail set up. My standard set has a 22" bass and I'm always looking for "that" sound. I'd hate to move that thing (maybe put wheels on it). I imagine the inside shell is bolted down so it wouldn't rattle. It should also resonate with the larger she...

Thanks for all the tips. As it turns out I have a Zildjian 18" medium crash that sounds somewhat like the Sabian. (I bought it in 1972). Not quite as high sounding but has a similar attack and wash. When I figure out how I'll do a quick video and post it.

Not really on the cocktail drum topic, but have you seen their new bass drum system? It looks awesome. It's on their website.
